Eight witnesses who had withdrawn their testimonies against Deputy President William Ruto and radio Journalist Joshua arap Sang will be forced to testify, the International Criminal Court has ruled.

The Hague-based court gave the orders after Prosecutor Fatou Bensouda protested the move by the witnesses to withdraw their testimonies.

Daily Nation reports that the international court also requested the Kenyan Government to co-operate in ensuring the witnesses appear before the court.

“The Chamber found that the Government of Kenya has an obligation to cooperate fully with the Court: by serving the subpoenas to the witnesses and by assisting in compelling their attendance before the Chamber, by the use of compulsory measures as necessary,” the ICC noted.
