“A time has come for all men to embrace the uniqueness of the girls and women in their lives. You must protect them as though they were your mothers, sisters and girlfriends,” she said on Wednesday.
She was speaking at the launch of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender Based Violence and the HeForShe gender equality campaigns at the University of Nairobi by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Uhuru also launched the national policy on prevention and response to gender based violence.
Waiguru said gender equality is a human rights issue that affects the whole nation and that men should therefore act lawfully.
